Born in Berea, Ohio in 1960, Brenda Villanueva is a talented mixed media and sculptural artist whose creative journey began after her retirement from the US Navy and a 24-year civilian career. Now, she’s embracing her passion for art with bold, vibrant creations that combine traditional techniques and modern inspiration.

Brenda’s work showcases a fearless exploration of glass art, from stained glass to glass blowing. She layers shattered glass, acrylic paints, modeling pastes, and resin to craft impasto-style paintings bursting with color, depth, and dimension. Her pieces often draw inspiration from her love of the coast, featuring ocean scenes and marine life, while her abstracts nod to the charm of countryside living.

Based in Prunedale, California, Brenda creates in her studio, Art By Alexis, named after her granddaughter Alexis, who shares her artistic spirit. Established in 2020 during the pandemic, the studio has become a haven for both Brenda and Alexis’s creative pursuits.

Brenda’s artwork is currently featured at Phoebe’s Fine Art and Jewelry in Capitola, California, and at Hollister Artisan’s Mercantile in Hollister, California.
